What is Power Health Turmeric 500mg?
Power Health Turmeric 500mg is a food supplement that is aimed at boosting health and fitness of your body. If taken regularly, the supplement may offer preventive and therapeutic benefits for ailments such as joint pain, arthritis, stomach pain, heartburn, and Crohn’s disease, among others.
Power Health Turmeric 500mg is mainly indicated for the relief and prevention of arthritis caused by a range of factors.
Power Health Turmeric contains Curcuma longa (turmeric root powder) as the main and only ingredient, wrapped in a hydroxypropylmethylcellulose capsule shell. This provides about 500mg of pure turmeric.
The active ingredient in the turmeric powder is curcumin, which is known to alleviate pain associated with arthritis, among other ailments. However, for this product, the label does not provide any information about the standardized percentage of curcumin in the supplement.
Several scientific studies have been conducted and they all seem to support curcumin’s anti-inflammatory properties, long-term pain relief, as well as its ability to modify immune system responses.
Power Health Turmeric 500mg is offered as powder capsules taken orally with food. For the relief of pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, it is recommended to take two capsules a day. For the treatment of osteoarthritis, a daily dosage of 500mg (one capsule) is recommended.
Power Health Turmeric is available at $5.12 per 30-capsule bottle. This translates to a month’s supply for the treatment of osteoarthritis but you would generally need to stock up on at least 2 bottles a month for rheumatoid arthritis and any other conditions that require a daily dosage of more than 500mg.
Possible Side Effects
Turmeric is generally well tolerated if taken in lower doses (1500mg and below). However, it can cause adverse effects if taken at higher doses. For instance, turmeric is a blood thinner at doses of more than 2000mg a day and so it should be avoided if you are taking blood thinners.
In addition, turmeric causes increased uterine contractions so it is not indicated for pregnant women. It’s also not advised for lactating mothers, children, diabetics, and persons on prescribed medications as it interacts with several medicines.
The official website for Power Health Turmeric 500mg supplement provides very little information on the product. Unsurprisingly, we were not able to find any guarantees for this supplement.
The Bottom Line
Like a host of other turmeric-based supplements on the market, this product seeks to take advantage of the herb’s potent health properties to provide therapeutic benefits to users. However, we were greatly disappointed with the product’s overall offering.
There’s no information on the standardized percentage of curcumin in the powder (curcumin constitutes up to 6% of turmeric powder), which causes doubts as to the supplement’s effectiveness. In addition, there is no guarantee offered by the manufacturer, which is another big let down.
All in all, we do not think the manufacturer did much to provide enough information to build confidence for potential users. We are confident buyers can find a better option for their money.
